My name is Mrs. Gatison.   I was raised in beautiful Pasadena, California. I attended many different schools in the Muscogee County during my childhood and graduated from Kendrick High School in June 2001. My road to early childhood education started in August 2001 when I began babysitting Full time at my mother’s daycare, “Nedra’s Daycare”. That inspired me to open my own daycare, “June Bug’s Daycare”, in Columbus, GA. I was a little nervous at first when I first started my own (business). 2 years later, I’m still at June Bug’s Daycare which is dedicated to children ages 6 weeks to 12 years old and I recently have expanded my center.  I knew that I had finally found my career path in life. I also have a 15 year old son named Devin. Throughout the years I have learned that Child Care need to go beyond learning. Before a child can learn they must feel comfortable in a safe and healthy environment. When the child feels safe and healthy it positively fosters children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. I feel that a positive environment is needed in order for children to fully understand love, encouragement, and respect. Although it is important to teach them curriculum; we owe it to the children to understand them as individuals.
